Job description

Major Players are working with an independent, nonprofit organisation that uses the law to drive positive change. My client focuses on creating campaigns that aim to create a fairer, more equitable world for all. We are looking for a Programme Manager who has experience in developing and improving project management processes, including campaign management, training and supporting technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of projects, ensuring they align with company goals.
  • Create detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure spending aligns with financial goals.
  • Identify risks and issues across projects and create strategies to address them.
  • Continuously improve systems and tools to support efficient operations.
  • Ensure projects follow legal and regulatory standards, including data protection and security policies.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as the main point of contact between, updating on project progress, risks, and opportunities.
  • Build strong communication strategies with senior stakeholders.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure projects meet business needs.
  • Manage relationships with external partners, vendors, and suppliers to ensure quality delivery.

Team Leadership:

  • Provide line management to subject matter experts and ensure they have the support and development they need.
  • Lead and mentor project teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Promote agile working practices, allowing teams to adapt and deliver value in fast-paced environments.
  • Offer coaching and development opportunities for staff to grow both technically and as leaders.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and best practices.

Experience Required:

  • At least 5 years of experience managing large programmes in a legal, media, or digital environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a team, including supporting project managers.
  • Understanding of legal campaigning and the UK political landscape.
  • Strong knowledge of project management, including both agile and waterfall methods.
  • Experience working with senior leaders and managing relationships with external vendors.
  • Strong budget management skills and financial tracking experience.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
Desirable:
  • Experience leading transformational change projects.
  • Relevant project management qualifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong collaboration, honesty, and integrity.
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts, especially around law and campaigns.
  • Confident in working with technical, commercial, political, and legal material.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills to engage colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and willing to support the team with various tasks.
  • Skilled in using core business applications and case management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage difficult situations calmly.
