Freelance SEO Manager - Publishing / Media

My client, a renowned global publication is looking for an experienced freelance SEO Manager to own and support top funnel Affiliate traffic growth. If you're available immediately and this role sounds like the one for you, get in touch today!

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead top-of-funnel traffic acquisition strategies for affiliate commerce content.
  • Collaborate with UK Commerce Editorial leads to craft acquisition strategies tailored to each title, focusing on reaching high-purchase-intent audiences and driving revenue.
  • Execute day-to-day organic search engine optimisation (SEO), including keyword research, content gap analysis, strategic content optimization, competitor analysis, site improvements, and ad hoc SEO support.
  • Conduct regular SEO audits on commerce content and provide weekly traffic reports.
  • Monitor traffic trends following algorithm updates, swiftly implementing recovery strategies in case of traffic drops.
  • Generate reports, analyse performance metrics, and share insights with stakeholders while recommending improvements and alternative approaches.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in Audience Development and SEO, ideally within a major media/publishing organisation or an agency specialising in editorial content.
  • Proficiency with publishing and analytics tools such as Dash Hudson, Listen First, Sailthru, Apple News Publisher, Parse.ly, and Google Analytics (or equivalent platforms).
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise-level SEO tools (e.g., Pi Datametrics, SEMrush).
  • Commitment to best-in-class SEO practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, collaborative team player.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
